Now for the fun part 🙂 Hi all, Heather here. Alongside the professional aspect of my job, I also want you to know that I’m a genuine person who gets frustrated, makes mistakes, and likes to eat the frosting off of cupcakes. Yes, I’ve even seen a few therapists of my own. Some of my hobbies are DIY projects, discovering new music, and making desserts. I am fond of nature, especially mountains and the ocean. My husband and I live in Southaven with our crazy cat, Olive. Our first session likely won’t end without me mentioning I love my job; if you choose to work with me, I think you’ll find that I take joy in my work!

Hey y’all!

Mary Elizabeth Kakales is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor applicant in the state of Mississippi. She received her masters in Counselor Education from the University of Texas, and she is passionate about coming alongside those who are hurting. It is a privilege to be a counselor, and it is one she does not take lightly! Her focus areas include work with adolescents, family therapy, play therapy with children, and anger management. She has experience treating depression, anxiety, crises, trauma and PTSD, family conflicts, school issues, peer and relational issues, shame, behavioral problems, and grief.

And, like Heather, now for the fun part 😀 hey y’all, I’m Mary Elizabeth! I can’t quite say it better than Heather…alongside the professional piece of my job, I, too, am a genuine person. I get frustrated, make mistakes, am not the world’s best driver, and have a few too many cups of coffee every day. I believe in the power of therapy because I’ve seen its healing effects in my clients’ lives as well as my own. I love going on walks with my dog, cooking dinner for friends, and curling up with a new book. I am so excited to be returning to the Midsouth after spending almost a decade away, and I look forward to serving my community as a counselor. I love my job! If we get the privilege of working together, my hope is that you experience the power of healing in a safe and supportive environment and leave our time together with a renewed sense of peace, joy, and hope.
